Real Talk

If you got to know me...

you'd learn that I love music.

you'd know I play the saxophone.

you'd know that I eat a midnight snack just about every night.

you'd know I love ice-cream.

you'd know I fall asleep in the shower and I could sleep all day.

if you really knew me you'd know I hate - really hate - going to the dentist.

you'd know I love Mexican food and that most of my friends are Mexican.

you'd also know that I spend a lot of my free time going to car lots or looking on KSL at cars. I also keep a really clean car. You'd know my car is my baby.

you'd know I am a hard worker. you'd learn I have two jobs.

you'd know I am independent.

you'd know I am pretty social and that I have a great sense of humor.

you'd learn that Sea Biscuit was my favorite movie.

you'd learn that I hate homework and I never really do it.

you'd know I hate when people are fake.

you'd learn I am afraid of heights.

you'd know I love my family.

you'd learn that high school wasn't really for me and I wasn't that great at attending my senior year and I just want to be done and move on.

I Remember

I remember...

I remember jumping off the counter pretending to fly like Buzz Lightyear. I don't want to remember the stinky ball pit at Arctic Circle, but I do. I remember my grandma tending me. I remember my bunk bed. I remember chasing my dog Buster around the neighborhood when he escaped from the backyard. I remember singing to Mulan with my sister and pretending I was a warrior in battle. I remember my Bionicles. I remember moving. I remember my swing set and tree in the backyard. I remember my forts. I remember my pet lizard Stripes. I remember the Green Goblin. I remember my dog Chase. I remember running outside in goggles and hats in the summer having air soft wars. I remember my first job. I remember my first date. I remember when my sister left, but I need to remember to write her. I remember the going to the beach. I remember Dodger Stadium. I remember waiting in line at Disneyland. I remember trying to stay awake when I had to do my homework (last night). I remember.

Black Out

Truth

I wish we'd been friends.
Oh boo hoo.
Stop whining.
Maybe I needed it.
I bought me a car instead.
You could listen.
It breaks my heart.
I can't keep around anymore.
It was a lie. I tried.
It was tough to believe.
Good bye.

Sad Chair

The once deserted, empty, unoccupied, bare, desolate, and vacant chair - until the night before the end of the term and you need to pass to graduate chair.

Jealousy

dog

by
Valerie Worth

Under a maple tree
The dog lies down,
Lolls his limp
Tongue, yawns,
Rests his long chin
Carefully between
Front paws;
Looks up, alert;
Chops, with heavy
Jaws, at a slow fly,
Blinks, rolls
On his side, Sighs, closes
His eyes:sleeps
All afternoon
In his loose skin.

Jealousy. I had a dog. Once. This poem makes me wish that I still had my best friend and dog. The simple life of a dog. The loyalty a dog gives to you. It also makes me wish for long summer days where you can be lazy and lie down "under a maple tree" or "sleep all afternoon" with my dog. I am jealous that I don't have a dog.

The Moon

Here's a question. Why do people claim these facts about the center of the earth if no one has ever been there? How do people claim these facts about the sun when again no one has ever been there? How do people know all these 'facts' that they say they can prove but have never seen with their own eyes before? How do they know how hot the sun is? Did someone go up to it with a thermometer? Well I guess I should just trust them because they are scientists.

Space Camp

If you were to ask me when I was a little kid what I wanted to be when I grew up I would've said a police officer like my dad. Now that is probably not the case. 8th grade I wanted to be a lawyer. 9th grade I wanted to be a musician. 10th grade I planned on moving to San Diego and becoming a bum on the beach. 11th grade I was going to become a physical therapist. 12th grade and what do I want to do with my life? Who knows, I finally figured out something important. It doesn't matter. I'm going to do what I love. Whether that happens to be a police officer or a clown at a birthday party. I am going to do what I want.

Quiet

Isn't it funny how just because I show up to school late everyday and I don't talk to anyone people probably think I am shy or unsocial or a jerk. But outside of school I am one of the most social loveable people you'll meet. Sure I do a lot of stupid stuff but that's what being young is for. Just because I'm quiet doesn't mean I'm unsocial or not a fun person. All you have to do is get to know me.
